My kids loved making crafts at the kids club. Even at its loudest it was still below the level of some resorts we’ve been too though. The music at the pool started off quiet in the morning and ramped up slowly as the day went on. I think they were all staked out with pool toys and towels at or before sunrise. The sun beds on the island were a different story. There were no problem get sun loungers and umbrellas at the pool except on the weekend. It would have been nice if it had been slightly warmer. THE POOL The pool was very clean and in good condition with no missing tiles like we’ve seen at other resorts. I think some of these resorts make it difficult to book to discourage people from going to the a la carte restaurants.

Both restaurants had lots of empty tables and were nowhere near full though. By doing that they finally added us to the bottom of a “full” list for the Mexican. She then talked to someone at the buffet restaurant the next day who told her to go to the Mexican restaurant at 4pm to book it. The first time my wife dialed zero as the instructions said, someone who barely spoke English answered and didn’t understand what she wanted and eventually cut her off before being able to book. The instruction sheet given to us when we checked in, said to book at the buffet restaurant during breakfast for the Mexican restaurant and dial 0 for the Italian restaurant “during the day”. While someone else the next day told my wife to call after 5pm. When we checked in the girl said to book before 5pm and that we were too late for the next day. One thing I did find annoying though was how difficult it was to book the a la carte restaurants. An appetizer and a main didn’t leave room for a desert. The portions at the Mexican restaurant were pretty big. But my wife thought the A la cartes were better. I thought the buffet was on par with the A La cartes. It was nice to sit and be served for a change. We tried both the a la carte restaurants. None of us had any problems in that respect. I saw reviews complaining about getting sick.
If you are less picky than an eight year old, you should be able to find enough that you like to keep you from starving. But they enjoyed the ice cream, M&Ms, pastries and other deserts. But because it was different from what we have ay home, our kids wouldn’t eat it. In my opinion the food was ok, but not spectacular. If you have a lot to plug in, bring a (two pronged) power bar. There weren’t a lot of power plugs in the room. We weren’t really too worried about someone hauling our safe away though. As someone else mentioned the safe wasn’t secured very well. But the kitchen sink had a definite whiff of sewage stink coming out of it. All three drains in the bathroom were fine. One big failing grade I will give the room was the sort of kitchen sink just as you enter the room. You can often smell the same smell the minute you step off the plane and onto the bridge at the airport. We’ve experienced this in the Caribbean many times before. Ours was slightly musty, but not too bad. I also saw many complaints about the rooms being musty. I’ve been in fancier hotels with better shower heads that had half the flow of this one, so based on that, I will give the shower a 10/10. I saw a review complaining about the shower head that made me laugh. My suggestion for a shower or bath is to run the cold fully and control the temperature with the hot. In fact, there wasn’t enough cold water to control the hot water. Everything in the bathroom worked properly and there was plenty of hot water. As many have already mentioned, the room was very dated. Unlike most resorts we’ve been to, they want it back at the end. The check in was relatively quick and easy. This was our first time vacationing in Mexico after staying at many different comparable resorts in Cuba and the Dominican Republic. My wife and I vacationed with our two kids at the Samba Vallarta in March.
